(NATIONAL) – In anticipation for the upcoming, hotly contested midterm elections in key swing states, immigrants and Latinxs are preparing to join a national day of action in 29 states on May Day, May 1st, to pressure President Biden to use his executive authority to protect all immigrants and end cruel, Trump-era immigration enforcement. This press conference will give voice to immigrants and/or Latinxs in seven swing states where Latinx and immigrant voters were a decisive voting bloc in ousting a xenophobic, corrupt administration and electing President Biden on the promise to fix our broken  immigration system.

Communities from across the US will take the streets May 1st to demand permanent protection for the 11 million workers and families who have seen inaction on immigration reform.  Latinxs and immigrant rights groups, labor unions, people of faith, LGBTQ organizations, environmentalists and other allies will demand movement on congressional and executive actions to end detention and deportation, end collaboration between police and ICE, expand TPS protections and to make politically possible a pathway for permaent protections for the 11 million currently undocumented immigrant families and workers in the United States.

More than one year into this administration, commitments to protect Black, Brown, AAPI, Transgender and Gender non-conforming, Queer (TGNCQ) immigrant communities continue to be mostly empty promises. With recent polls showing Biden hemorrhaging support amongst Latinxs, it’s more important than ever for him to deliver on his promises and protect all immigrants.
